Guitar riffs, energy, passion: With their debut album "Runnin' Wild", Airbourne became the hottest hard rock band of the new millennium. With the follow-ups "No Guts. No Glory." (2010), "Black Dog Barking" (2013), "Breakin' Outta Hell" (2016) and "Boneshaker" (2019), the Australian quartet developed into a worldwide hit guarantee. In Germany in particular, Airbourne are generating sustained storms of enthusiasm: four of their five albums reached a top ten position straight away, but internationally they have also confidently established themselves as the measure of all things in the hard rock scene. After the band has released a new record every three years, the successor to the now five-year-old "Boneshaker" has finally been announced for this year. Afterwards, Airbourne will go on a world tour and will also stop off in Germany for six shows in Ulm, Hanover, Erlangen, Leipzig, Karlsruhe and Dortmund between January 30 and March 29, 2025.
Airbourne from the Australian town of Warrnambool, which has a population of 30,000, embody everything that defines hard rock: guitars on par with AC/DC, choruses in the style of Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses or Mötley Crüe, and a stage show that triggers as much euphoria as an entire heavy metal festival. With their debut album "Runnin' Wild", released in May 2008, Joel O'Keeffe (vocals, guitar), Ryan O'Keeffe (drums), David Roads (guitar) and Justin Street (bass) made it immediately clear: Airbourne don't care about trends and fashions. The album, produced by Bob Marlette and Andy Wallace (Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Guns N' Roses), was bursting with self-confidence. Accordingly, they were awarded the English Metal Hammer Award for the best debut album of the year. Since then, the band has always thrilled the crowds with their rousing, straightforward show. Airbourne achieves all of this with an honest, handmade, passionate sound that they have perfected and developed over four more albums.
Four of these five albums were nominated for Australia's most important music award, the ARIA Award, in addition to numerous other awards and nominations. Not much is known about the upcoming album, which is due to be released later this year - except that Brett Tyrrell is a new rhythm guitarist on board, whose powerful guitar playing brought a breath of fresh air to the band, as they themselves announced on social media. So we can be very excited about the upcoming work, which is sure to leave no eye - and certainly no armpit - dry.
The tour is presented by Rock Hard.
