Anna Mateur is this magnificent, wondrous phenomenon who, with her fabulous vocal volume and profoundly comical seriousness, overshadows everything that tries to assert itself in this country as great art, small art, minor or intermediate art.
Anna Mateur is: special art!
She exposes the grotesqueness of normality, the monstrousness of mediocrity and the connection between comfort and conformism… All this with the means of applied art: songs unchained. Covers. Songs.
An evening where the symbiosis of feeling and insight provides a great catharsis. Expect the unexpected. That's Annamateur!
The musicians alongside Anna Mateur, in changing line-ups, are: Kim Efert (guitar), Samuel Halscheidt (guitar).
Anna Maria Vogt aka Anna Mateur, born in Dresden in 1977, studied music, but would have preferred to apply for graphic design or acting. Since 2003 she has been touring with her various musical formations, most recently with "Anna Mateur and the Beuys" in German-speaking countries. Award-winning and always ready for a creative escapade, she writes stage programs, song lyrics and radio columns, drawing her stories live on foils, skin, tables and walls. Her passion is systems between order and chaos. Various CDs with her musicians have been released by RoofMusic. Her first book "Wehwehchenatlas" and a solo radio play CD were published by "Voland & Quist", as was her latest live CD "Essnlassen" with Andreas Gundlach, piano, in December 2018.
"Comparatively many people can be serious. Only very few can create such good satire." Sebastian Blottner, Berliner Morgenpost (16.8.2017)
