"Alles nix Konkretes": So hieß 2016 das erste Album der Kölner Band AnnenMayKantereit.
Es hätte keinen besseren Titel geben können. Denn es gab ja damals tatsächlich keinen
Karriereplan, das Motto war eher: erst mal machen, dem Vibe folgen, gucken, was passiert.
So hatten Christopher Annen (Gitarre), Henning May (Gesang) und Severin Kantereit
(Schlagzeug) es bereits gehalten, als sie sich in der Schule kennenlernten und gemeinsam
als Straßenmusiker auftraten, so blieb es, als sie frühe Songs bei YouTube veröffentlichten,
ein erstes, heute längst vergriffenes Album selbst produzierten und schließlich 2015 eine
Debüt-EP unter dem ebenfalls bezeichnenden Titel "Wird schon irgendwie gehen".
Und wie es ging: Was seitdem passiert ist, ist ganz und gar außergewöhnlich und – nun
eben doch – eine der beeindruckendsten Karrieren im deutschen Pop der vergangenen
Jahrzehnte. Seit der Gründung der Band im Jahre 2011 haben sich AnnenMayKantereit
kontinuierlich vom Kölner Geheimtipp zu einer der erfolgreichsten Bands der Republik
entwickelt, ohne jemals die Bodenhaftung zu verlieren.
Auch international haben sich AnnenMayKantereit große Fangemeinden in Ländern wie
Mexiko, der Ukraine und der Türkei erspielt. Ihre gemeinsam mit Giant Rooks eingespielte
Version von Suzanne Vegas Klassiker "Tom’s Diner" wurde in den USA mit Gold
ausgezeichnet, die Band hat insgesamt über 400 Shows gespielt, zahlreiche Preise verliehen
bekommen und sich im September 2023 mit einem ausverkauften Konzert im Kölner
RheinEnergieSTADION einen Traum erfüllt.
2026 kehren AnnenMayKantereit endlich mit einer neuen Tour zurück: Ab Juli wird die Band
neben einer weiteren Show im Kölner Stadion in Deutschland, Österreich, Luxemburg und
der Schweiz wieder Konzerte spielen.
