FAUST – THE ROCK OPERA "The Original"
»FAUST – The Rock Opera« is performed with professional actors, singers, dancers and a fantastic live band as a very entertaining, entertaining and captivating rock spectacle. Only the texts of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe are used. The work impresses with its dramaturgy and the processing of the texts in the specially developed compositions.
The composer and librettist, Dr. Rudolf Volz, tells the well-known story of Dr. Heinrich Faust in an ingenious version with 27 rock and pop songs. It deals with the great human themes of love, magic, guilt and death.
The arrangements, costumes and set design are inspired by the rock history of the 1970s. The style of the production is based on the folk play tradition of the time before Goethe and makes the whole thing a spectacle that is somewhere between a rock concert, a musical and a folk play. The live show Faust I consists of two halves of 65 and 75 minutes.
Story
The tragedy "FAUST" has existed for more than 500 years. Over the centuries, the subject has changed many times in the history of performance. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe created one of the most important pieces, not only for German literature, but for all of world literature. The performance practice of "FAUST, the first part of the tragedy" has covered a wide spectrum over the course of history. "FAUST" has been musically adapted by classical composers. In 1997, Dr. Rudolf Volz from Ulm created his version of "FAUST - The Rock Opera".

“FAUST – The Rock Opera” has been successfully performed almost 800 times and almost always to sold-out audiences. This makes the rock opera the most frequently performed version of Faust worldwide. Many thousands of enthusiastic visitors experienced this extraordinary and unique approach to Goethe’s “FAUST” in a magnificent production.
