For a year, Sandra, a German writer, her French husband Samuel and their eleven-year-old son Daniel have been living in seclusion in a small town in the French Alps. On a bright day, Samuel is found dead in the snow at the foot of their chalet. Was it murder? Suicide? Or just a tragic accident? The police are suspicious of Samuel's sudden death and Sandra becomes the prime suspect. A grueling circumstantial evidence trial follows, which gradually dissects not only the circumstances of Samuel's death but also Sandra and Samuel's lively relationship in detail.
