Denmark in the 18th century: A soldier named Ludvig Kahlen follows his king's orders and wants to conquer the wild heath of Jutland - a dark no man's land in which, alongside brutal highwaymen and voracious wolves, the most merciless of all enemies reigns: Mother Nature. But an unscrupulous landowner also declares war on Kahlen. "King's Land" is a gripping, visually impressive opus about the settlement of the Danish heathland in the 18th century, which unfolds as a duel between two men who could not be more different. Director Nikolaj Arcel stages the battle with nature as a great human drama between dreams and sacrifice, between revenge and discipline, love and loss. The great Mads Mikkelsen plays the lead role in the film, which celebrated its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
