Rether links the current with the forgotten, the near with the far, questions, disputes, doubts. He thoroughly shakes up the central beliefs of western "civilization" and exposes so-called constraints to laughter as collective fictions. With surprising comparisons, he seduces the audience to a change of perspective - to a different view of the world, of the future, of the mirror, and of uncomfortable truths. And he calls on us to free ourselves from our often instrumentalized fear and anger.
Rether's LOVE is tragic, funny, painful, contagious: the constantly mutating program with the same title causes lasting dissatisfaction with simple explanations and encourages people to think and act for themselves. For up to three and a half hours, the cabaret artist passionately pleads for enlightenment and compassion, against double standards and consumer-oriented indifference: change is possible - if we want it.
