Information about the event

Evil can brace itself! Because when the five exceptional mimes from Wuppertal conquer the stages of the republic, energy and tears of laughter flow in streams. All of them are sons and daughters of light by nature, they turn even the darkest fantasies into brightly shining punch lines. No room for gloom, no room for misery, no room for evil. Wherever the VPT appears, hope, enthusiasm and happiness shine. Guided by ghost-hunting coolness and a detective's sense of crazy humor, the VPT goes to work and transforms every concert hall and every theater stage into a seething cauldron of happiness! "The millennium was still young. Science and technology displaced belief in the supernatural. But evil existed. And he was clever! One was chosen to fight against the forces of darkness. Demons called him the son of light, his friends called him the ghost hunter."

The VPT calls him: “JOHN”.

50 years of John Sinclair
John Sinclair, senior inspector of a special branch at Scotland Yard, is called upon to fight evil wherever he encounters it. He must not give up, otherwise hell would triumph.
The novels about the Son of Light have been published for 50 years now and inspire a loyal readership in well over 2,000 editions. No less successful is the radio play series about the ghost hunter, which has more than 160 episodes and comes with an incomparably action-packed production and sound that is absolutely suitable for the cinema - as if it were made for the audio collage innovators at VPT.

Already at the end of the noughties, when the VPT took on the stage adaptation of the Sinclair material, Jason Dark (prince of horror literature, inventor and, since 1973, author of the stories about the Son of Light) himself remarked: »Now I finally know how my John Sinclair is looks like.”

For the VPT it is both an accolade and a challenge to open a new chapter in the VPT history and to dedicate the ghost hunter the show that he deserves after 50 years of tireless fight against evil.

A hell of a lot of fun!
There is no question that the audience can expect great things. The VPT wouldn't be The VPT if it didn't tell John Sinclair's story in "its own words." And that always means a magnificent mix of homage and satire.

The legend of the ghost hunter is brought to the stage in a way that it has never been told before:
Only the VPT has the ability to mix narrative threads, characters and show elements in such a way that completely new stories, original associations and unexpected images emerge. Nothing is impossible in the great cosmos of full playback theater!
The spawn of hell on a comedy stage? No problem. Magic items and countercurses? Naturally. The detective help of colleagues from other radio series, films or television shows? Of course. Because whoever visits the VPT gets more. More sophisticated costumes. More loving stage backdrops. More flashy props. More goosebumps. More comedy. More show. More fun.

The VPT had its origins in 1997. Over the years, one of the most original German theater groups developed from a colorful group of Wuppertal rampagers and radio play nerds. They have been touring through Germany for 26 years now and regularly play their shows to sold-out halls. The unique selling point of the five-member core ensemble: The soundtrack comes from a tape and consists of a collage of well-known (youth) radio plays, interspersed with quotes from film, radio or television. Just full playback. The sets, props and costumes are almost entirely made in-house and almost every year they use these ingredients to create new, hilarious shows

Hall A, entrance: 7 p.m., start: 8 p.m
