Matthias Reim was born on November 26, 1957 in Korbach/North Hesse and is the second of four brothers. He discovered his love of music at a very early age - at the age of ten he founded the school band at high school under the name "Rhyme River Union" and celebrated his first modest successes. At the request of his father, a senior school principal, Matthias Reim began studying German and English at the University of Göttingen after graduating from high school in 1976. But he continued to make music, played and sang in discos - and more or less neglected his studies. Reim finally broke off his studies in 1980 and decided to become a musician. He composed for artists such as Roy Black, Jürgen Drews and Bernhard Brink and earned a pretty good living from it. But he is still a long way from great success... A few years later, in 1990, Matthias Reim makes his breakthrough as a musician - he becomes a superstar overnight: with "Verdammt, ich lieb' Dich" he creates the most successful hit of the 90s, his first album sells around 2.5 million copies. The Reim fever continues in the years that follow, his second album and the sold-out tour through Germany are a huge success. Matthias Reim is at the top and only two years after his breakthrough he flees the hype and withdraws from show business, but is currently still composing. In the mid-90s he tries his hand at a new album with the best musicians in England, but his contact with German fans seems to be no longer what it used to be. The third millennium, 2000, then begins with a series of successes for Reim. He releases his new album "Wolkenreiter" and it receives a sensational response. All experts agree that it is his best record in 10 years and Matthias Reim goes on tour in 2001. After his tour he suffers a setback: his manager gambled away all of Reim's money, around 14 million euros. Burdened by his debts, he continues to work on his album "REIM", which immediately reaches a good position in the top ten and receives gold and an Echo nomination. In 2005 his album "Unverwundbar" is released and this album also goes gold. The financial situation worsens, but that does not stop Matthias Reim from continuing to perform in front of his audience. He becomes more and more of a stage artist and also wins over young viewers to his fan base. In 2010 Matthias Reim is debt-free and his album "Sieben Leben", released in October 2010, becomes his biggest recording success in 15 years and is heading for platinum status. In 2011, Matthias Reim went on a successful concert tour and his album “Unendlich”, released in 2013, was a chart success. In 2013, Matthias Reim went on a major tour of Germany and received a “Golden Record” for the album “Unendlich” for over 100,000 records sold and platinum in 2014 for over 200,000 records sold.
