MerQury - The finest Queen tribute

There are cover bands everywhere. Really good ones are in short supply. In Dresden you can find one of these rare formations. The Queen tribute band MerQury is one of the few groups that has been playing to enthusiastic audiences around the world for years. Various tours have taken MerQury through Europe, North and Central America and Asia. There must be something special about the four graduates of the Dresden University of Music and their British frontman. Since their formation in 1991, MerQury have played well over 2500 shows in over 20 different countries. The band's musicians were also main actors in the successful musical "We are the Champions", which was celebrated by more than 200,000 fans across Europe. MerQury's concept, with a mixture of deceptively authentic interpretations of Queen songs and their own musical creativity, is a complete success.

The five full-blooded musicians convince even sworn Queen fans and always offer their audience an extraordinary concert experience. The successful combination of brilliant sound, elaborate light show including pyrotechnic effects, flashy costumes and lots of audience interaction make every MerQury show incomparable. As frontman, Jody Cooper from Great Britain not only impresses visually in the role of Freddie Mercury. Vocally, the singer shines in difficult passages of the world-famous Queen songs. As an extravagant entertainer, he wins the audience's sympathy in no time.

The band has been actively involved with Aidshilfe Dresden eV for more than 25 years and organizes the traditional Queen party on a large scale in the Saxon metropolis every year. As a tribute to Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS on November 24, 1991, artist friends from a wide variety of genres perform here together with MerQury. In past shows, artists such as Jimmy Somerville, Chris Thompson, electra, Julia Neigel and the Dresdner Kapellknaben have performed fantastic interpretations of Queen's music. Olaf Schubert was our guest, ensuring a good mood. The proceeds from the event help to support the fight against one of the most terrible diseases in the world. MerQury is continuing Freddie Mercury's legacy in a special way in another project: The "Queen Classical" ingeniously combines the sound worlds of rock band and symphony orchestra and makes works such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Barcelona" a live experience in a unique way.
