𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲 have been pushing the boundaries of heavy music for over fifteen years, ever since they emerged from Lyon's celebrated hardcore punk scene. When they started out, their music was absolutely brutal, a mission in search of the hardest sound imaginable. Despite the fact that they harnessed the power of black metal and post-hardcore, the music was a beast all its own, leaving the boundaries and cliches of those genres far behind to arrive at something completely unique. Extremity on their own terms.

Always forward-thinking, and this time even more encouraged by the huge success of 2017's "Infidèle(s)" and the deal with Nuclear Blast, the follow-up was always going to be something radical. But even by their own overly high standards, 2022's "Assassine(s)" is a huge step forward. While it's still an album with crashing guitar walls, a relentless rhythm, and passages of blissful, rushing release, it's also unlike anything the band has ever released. With a modern, forward-looking production, it's just as complex, but more direct, diverse, and accessible than ever before. And the French always know how to convince live, too, regularly sweeping crowds away at both their own concerts and at festivals.
