Auf diesen Tapetenwechsel haben die Geschwister Beth (Delilah Bennett-Cardy), Fran (Billie Gadsdon) und Joe (Phoenix Laroche) mal so gar keine Lust. Aber eine wirkliche Wahl haben sie auch nicht, denn ihre Eltern Tim (Andrew Garfield) und Polly (Claire Foy) haben den Umzug aufs Land längst beschlossen. In der neuen Umgebung angekommen, gehen die drei Kinder schließlich auf Erkundungstour in den nahen Wald. Dort stoßen sie schnell auf jede Menge magische Geheimnisse: Nicht nur nennen ein paar ziemlich seltsame Wesen diesen Walt ihr Zuhause, mittendrin wächst auch noch ein Baum – und zwar so hoch, dass man sein Ende zwischen den Wolken nicht sehen kann. Die Fee Seidenhaar (Nicola Coughlan), Frau Wasch (Jessica Gunning) und das Mondgesicht (Nonso Anozie) nehmen die drei daraufhin unter ihre Fittiche und zeigen ihnen diesen magischen Ort.
