Mit 55 Jahren genießt Anne (Sophie Marceau) erstmals die neu gewonnene Freiheit, seit ihre Kinder ausgezogen sind. Der Alltag gerät jedoch aus dem Gleichgewicht, als ihre 23-jährige Tochter Louise (Thaïs Alessandrin) nach beruflichen und privaten Rückschlägen wieder bei ihr einzieht. Das ungeplante Zusammenleben bringt unterschiedliche Lebensentwürfe und Erwartungen ans Licht. Kurz darauf folgt eine weitere Nachricht, die Annes Situation verändert: Ihr Sohn Théo (Victor Belmondo) teilt ihr mit, dass sie bald Großmutter wird. Zwischen dem erneuten Zusammenleben mit Louise und dieser neuen familiären Rolle verschieben sich Annes Perspektiven. Gewohnte Strukturen lösen sich auf, während sich neue Möglichkeiten und unerwartete emotionale Impulse ergeben. Angesichts dieser Entwicklungen muss Anne erkennt, dass Lebenspläne selten geradlinig verlaufen.
