As Knocked Loose worked on their third album, they felt the pressure from all sides. Internally, the challenge was to continue to evolve as songwriters while maintaining the relentless intensity and unwavering honesty that have always been their trademark—as well as living up to the high expectations that came after the success of 2019's A Different Shade of Blue, one of the most lauded metallic-hardcore albums in recent memory. Externally, many new eyes were on the hard-touring Louisville quintet after a successful year of touring that saw them bring their sound, honed in the underground scene, to some of the biggest stages in the world. They surprisingly became viral darlings of both Coachella and Bonnaroo.
