The band's mastermind, guitarist, singer, and songwriter Chris Goss, is best known as the producer of Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Soulwax, Mondo Generator, UNKLE, Stone Temple Pilots, and the "Desert Sessions" – a cult stoner rock album. Just last year, Goss produced the album "John Garcia & The Band of Gold" for former Kyuss singer John Carcia, which was named after his project. His own band, Masters of Reality, remains a mystery.
As one of the founders of desert/stoner rock and with a band name that refers to a Black Sabbath album, they have released 6 studio albums since 1988, but have continued to operate somewhat under the radar.
With the album "Deep In The Hole," they attracted attention with their blend of bluesy stoner rock and great guitar riffs and solos. On the subsequent European tour, Chris Goss and drummer John Leamy were joined by Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and Nick Oliveri (Mondo Generator). Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees/Queens of the Stone Age) and Dave Catching (Eagles of Deathmetal) were also once members of Masters of Reality, and to top it all off, legendary Cream drummer Ginger Baker recorded an album with the band.
Fans of Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age who are curious about the origins of the (desert) rock sound know where to go on April 15th.
