With a new album in his luggage, Scott Matthew will go on tour again in October 2024. The Australian singer-songwriter will be accompanied by his two long-time musicians Marisol Limon Martinez on piano and Jürgen Stark on guitar. He is currently in the studio in his adopted home of New York to put the finishing touches to the recordings of his second album of cover versions.
Anyone who has ever experienced one of these moving Scott Matthew concerts will know about the tradition of ending the set and leaving the stage with a cover song. Or as Scott himself describes these encores: "These songs are like old friends, some of whom I grew up with and who have given me comfort and support in special situations in life."
In 2013 he released his first encore collection of cover versions of his favorite songs, the album Unlearned (Glitterhouse/ Indigo). For his new work, he will once again work out the emotional core of “Old Friends” with a lot of love and empathy and translate it in a new and touching way with his distinctive voice and sparse instrumentation. The track list and album title remain secret, but this much can be revealed: World-famous pop hits will be featured on the new album and his set list for the upcoming concerts, as well as the odd soul classic and previously largely undiscovered musical gems.
