Biography - Rockhaus
Rockhaus is an East German rock band and one of the (East) German representatives of the new wave and New Wave. In the 1980s they were one of the most popular rock bands in the GDR. In the all-time ranking of the GDR's annual hit parade (since 1972) they reached second place, directly after the Puhdys and closely followed by Lift in the number one hits.

Story
The group was formed in 1978 from two school bands. They entered the GDR rock scene in 1981. Musically they were very much oriented towards new wave and funk and later developed into straightforward rock music. Their lyrics were strongly oriented towards the time and music feeling of the GDR youth of the time and were therefore very popular there. The first productions were so well received that in 1983 both the first single and the first LP, called Bonbons und Schokolade, were released by Amiga. According to musicologist Michael Rauhut, Disco in der U-Bahn from this LP was the first German hip hop song. The album Alles klar?, released in 1985, also contained some more successful songs. The band presented themselves as more mature musically on the 1988 LP ILD. In the same year, Rockhaus was named Band of the Year. The title song Ich liebe Dich became the number one hit in the GDR annual hit parade in 1988. In 1989, the song Mich zu lieben – also from the ILD album – also made it to the top of the charts.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the band produced two more albums, of which Gnadenlose Träume was particularly successful. From autumn 1994 to 1996, Acki Noack was the singer of Rockhaus. In 1998, the band finally broke up due to internal problems. Mike Kilian, the singer of the group, continued to work as a solo artist. In 2005, they started again. Rockhaus subsequently toured as the opening act for Prinzen. In 2006, they went on their own tour of East Germany, where the group received a good response from the audience. During this tour, Rockhaus had a live DVD produced, which was released in 2009 under the name Rockhaus – Danke.

In 2006, the 1988 LP ILD was remastered and released as a CD. Guest musicians included Jürgen Ehle from Pankow, Uwe Haßbecker and Rüdiger Barton from Silly. Petereit and Mohren produced this LP together with Jürgen Ehle.

In addition to his work as the singer for Rockhaus, Mike Kilian also plays in his own Rolling Stones cover band, Starfucker. He has also produced several solo albums. He was also involved in the GDR group Gitarreros, in which he was a singer alongside Herbert Dreilich, Tamara Danz and Toni Krahl.
