Celtic magic and Scottish joie de vivre - that's what the audience can experience when the "Scottish Music Parade" comes to Germany. Bagpipers, drummers, musicians, singers and dancers, all directly from Edinburgh, Scotland, take the audience on an evening of thrilling and varied journey through Scotland.
And no, the men don't wear trousers here, they wear skirts - checked and in the colours of the respective clans: Kilts are as much a part of the Scots as bagpipes and drums.
Against a backdrop of a castle with towers and battlements - an imitation of a Scottish castle - the artists present ever new facets of Scottish culture. Just as the impressive sound of bagpipes and drums roared through the hall and captured the people in the stands, the next moment soulful ballads full of longing and vastness create an intoxicating silence in the hall. The participating artists are among the best that Scotland has to offer. Most of the participants regularly take part in the world-famous Edinburgh Tattoo. The bagpipers and drummers include many winners of international competitions and world champions on their instruments. Even the combination of traditional bagpipe playing and modern rock music works when guitarists turn up their electric guitars to full volume and the entire ensemble gradually joins in with its traditional instruments, for example to Paul McCartney's hymn "Mull of Kintyre" and John Farnham's "You're the voice" - then goosebumps are guaranteed. The cheerful and lively dances of Scotland, on the other hand, exude esprit and a lively festive atmosphere.
The artists enter the performance area in ever-changing formations, wearing magnificent costumes and attire, and inspire one another with their immense joy in music and dance. When the Scottish anthem "Highland Cathedral" rings out in the mist after an original cannon salvo and the bagpipers and drummers in their uniforms pass close to the audience through the aisles, a breath of real Highland air blows through the hall!
