After acclaimed and successful tours through Europe and the USA, the award-winning top dancers of the Kyiv Grand Ballet (Ukr.: Grand Kyiv Ballet) will once again be guests in Germany and Switzerland in January 2025.
The Kiev Grand Ballet has been one of the most successful companies in the international ballet world for ten years. Founded in Kiev in 2014 by Alexander Stoyanov, the ensemble stands for classical ballet art at the highest level. The dancers have received numerous awards and have enchanted audiences on famous stages from Paris to New York. The ballet troupe regularly tours the USA, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe.
In January 2025, the Kyiv Grand Ballet will be visiting Germany and Switzerland for the third time – with Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece “Swan Lake” and with Ana Sophia Scheller as “special guest”. The Argentinian star ballerina began ballet training at the age of six and received the Presidential Scholarship for Cultural Excellence in Classical Dance at the age of 13. From Buenos Aires she moved to the New York City Ballet, where she was also appointed principal. Her travels as a guest and gala artist have taken her to stages around the world from Singapore to Sicily to San Francisco. She will play Odette in Swan Lake with the Kiev Grand Ballet.
"Swan Lake" is one of the most famous and popular ballets in the world. The plot revolves around Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the swan princess Odette. She was turned into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rotbart. The enchanted princess and her entourage of swan girls are only human at night and spend the day in their swan-like form at the lake. Siegfried swears eternal love to Odette to break the spell. Rotbart does not want to allow this and lets Siegfried be seduced by the "black swan" Odile, who he mistakenly believes to be Odette. This entanglement leads to the dramatic final battle between Siegfried and Rotbart and the question of whether true love will win.
