A cappella concert
The international took place with the calens vocal ensemble from Stuttgart a cappella Leipzig 2024 competition has a proud winner - both from the point of view of the jury and the audience. The eight-member vocal ensemble was formed in early 2022 in the Stuttgart choir scene, inspired by a workshop by the British Voces8. Anyone who loves their sound and school will also enjoy the young South German octet, which made the competition look forward to more with its high quality, personable performance and panoramic ensemble sound. Now calens are doing exactly that in the traditional prizewinners' concert of the competition winner and are coming to Leipzig with a program in which historical and contemporary settings of sacred texts (for example by Mendelssohn, Byrd, Mäntyjärvis or the ensemble members themselves) demonstrate the timelessness of classical vocal music. So listen up - here is something highly up-and-coming!
