When he became the frontman of the trend-setting new wave and synth-pop band Ultravox in 1979, he had already had several musical careers in successful bands behind him. On his "Catalogue: The Hits" tour, the multi-gold and platinum award-winning MIDGE URE celebrates Ultravox hits such as "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes", "Hymn", his solo hits and songs from the many band projects of his career with fans.<\/p>\n

"As much as I love spending time writing and recording songs, playing live will always be my 'first love' as I was making music long before I was even allowed near a recording studio. On the 'Catalogue' tour I will not only be playing a wide selection of hits from my entire career, but also some of the most requested favourite songs. Recreating and sharing these moments from my life through music is something I'm really looking forward to," says MIDGE URE.<\/p>\n

The two records that forever changed the musical landscape at the turn of the 70s into the 80s and ushered in a departure from the guitar-driven rock and punk of the 70s were co-written, recorded and produced by MIDGE URE, one of the leading figures of the British music scene, and not only changed the charts worldwide, but also his life in the process.<\/p>\n

These two albums by the bands Visage (Visage) and Ultravox (Vienna) catapulted art school alternative into the center of the mainstream and provided a template for much of what was to follow. Synthesizers heralded a futuristic new era and the advent of music videos transformed the pop charts.<\/p>\n

"In the previous two years I had progressed from a 'pop band' (Slik) to a 'post-punk band' (The Rich Kids) and then joined Thin Lizzy as guitarist. During the autumn and winter of 1979, while working on the Visage project with Billy Currie, I was invited to join the band Ultravox. The work we did that winter on the 'Vienna' album was an intoxicating burst of creativity like I had never experienced before."<\/p>\n

In 1984, MIDGE URE produced the famous "Band Aid" song together with Bob Geldof and 36 artists, which led to the Live Aid concert in 1985 and subsequent projects - a milestone in music history. In the late 80s and early 90s he enjoyed great success with his solo albums "The Gift", "Answers to Nothing", "Pure" and "Breathe". He wrote film music and organized benefit concerts with Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John and Eric Clapton. He directed major concert series such as "Night of the Proms" and others.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Ultravox reunited, toured with Simple Minds, and released a new album in 2012. Shortly before the pandemic, MIDGE URE toured to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the two groundbreaking 1980 albums.<\/p>\n
