With his natural live performance and new album \u201cTurn It Up\u201d, singer-songwriter-pianist Michael Kaeshammer is on the verge of conquering his old homeland from Vancouver Island in British Columbia after decades of great success in North America. This is Germany, in whose southwestern corner he was a teenage prodigy on the piano, astonishing and captivating audiences as a 16-year-old.
\nIn North America, the musician fills large halls and plays with other successful artists such as Ray Charles, Anne Murray and the Neville Brothers. The national US television station chain PBS dedicated a TV special to him in 2020, and the Canadian broadcaster Chek now even has its own cooking show \u201cKaeshammer's Kitchen\u201d. His music, of course influenced by jazz, also combines elements of pop, blues and rock'n roll - and last but not least impresses with Kaeshammer's unique and rousing \u201ccrossover style\u201d.
\nThis can be heard on his major label debut album \u201cTurn It Up\u201d, which will be released on March 1st, 2024 via Seven.One Starwatch \/ Sony Music. Michael cares less than ever about stylistics. He is the medium. Music flows through his hands into the piano, through his seductive voice into the microphone and inspires his fellow musicians. These are Matt Chamberlain (drums), who has played with John Mayer, Bob Dylan and Elton John, David Piltch, who has supported Solomon Burke, Bonnie Raitt and kdlang with his bass, and Michael's Toronto horn section. In addition to the title track, highlights include the pop-jazz crossover song "Never Knew What Love Was", the rousing rocker "Sweepin' The Floor", the emotional ballad "One More Time" and a surprisingly fresh version of the Queen classic "Crazy Little Thing Called Love\u201d.
\n\u201cWhen I play,\u201d says Michael, \u201cI react to what I hear and then let the music decide where the journey should go.\u201d Ultimately, he says, it's the twelve notes on which everything is based. It's impossible to escape the energy that arises with Michael at the center of his music. This comes with force.
