In 2010, the Flying Steps presented a novel project with their founder Vartan Bassil and the Berlin opera director Christoph Hagel in the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin:
\n\u201cFlying Bach\u201d was the successful combination of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier with breakdance.<\/p>\n
Since then, over a million people in more than 50 countries have seen Flying Bach worldwide.<\/p>\n
In 2023, on the thirtieth anniversary of the Flying Steps, Vartan Bassil and Christoph Hagel will introduce their new collaboration to the audience: \u201cFlying H\u00e4nsel and Gretel\u201d will celebrate its world premiere on October 1st, 2023 in the Cologne Philharmonic, followed by a tour of 13 German venues Cities.<\/p>\n
The international dance company Flying Steps consciously chose this \u201coriginally German\u201d material. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm and Humperdinck's opera of the same name, the Flying Steps and Christoph Hagel translate the story into our time with elements of breakdance, hip hop and rap. Today \u201cHansel & Gretel\u201d are \u201csent into the forest\u201d in a different way \u2013 but they are no less alone on TikTok and Instagram than they were in Grimm\u2019s time.<\/p>\n
