After the ceremonial opening with welcoming words from Anke Geißler (Cabaret Academixer), an unforgettable evening awaits visitors in the ANKER district center.
Anyone who looks at the 60s and 70s in the GDR will inevitably come across the Klaus Renft combo when it comes to so-called GDR rock. Her reputation was legendary. For many, she embodied rebellion against a system of paternalism, control and pressure to conform. In five years, songs were created that have become inscribed in the hearts of several generations. The combo's performances from Suhl to Wolgast always had a touch of rebelliousness and underground quality to them; the stage was not just a showroom, but also a podium for publishing one's own positions on the world.
But how much opposition do you want to face? There were always discussions about this in the band. Did it make sense to provoke bans on performances for the umpteenth time? The band was declared “non-existent” in 1975. Its founder Klaus Jentzsch, alias Renft, is traveling to the West. In later years some of the band members followed him. Those who remain in the GDR join other groups. Until after the fall of the Wall, the great identity-creating Klaus Renft Combo revival began, which continues to have an impact today.
