Two chairs, two guitars, and two microphones – that's all guitarists Jan Pascal and Alexander Kilian need to touch hearts, enchant them, sweep them off their feet, and, transcending all boundaries, unleash a wide range of emotions. Café del Mundo plays a unique sound. From the very first note, their finely tuned guitars exude that southern joie de vivre that celebrates life while simultaneously moving us deeply – that's what guitar sounds like today!
As artistic personalities, the two are polar opposites: Alexander Kilian is considered a guitar prodigy; highly virtuosic, extroverted, and award-winning, he sometimes dances across the rows of chairs. Jan Pascal is a poet with depth, meaning, and a feel for life's melodies. A Café del Mundo concert is an experience, an encounter, a homage to the great love of life, to the interconnectedness of everything and everyone, and to the pure joy of the moment—"guitartainment"—that's how we like it.
Two musicians, seemingly without a place in the conventional system, meet by chance at a workshop given by the twelve-year-older. They are very different, yet immediately bond, living their shared dream: to open their instrument, the Andalusian flamenco guitar, to audiences worldwide. A decade of hard work followed, crossing the desert to carve out a niche. Their breakthrough came during the pandemic with their very own, sensitive, yet energetic arrangements of pop and film classics. "Viva la Vida" initially received 1.5 million views, while "Una Mattina" boasted over 120 million streams on Instagram. Concert invitations followed worldwide.
The new GuitaRevolution Symphonic tour will not only focus on their album Symphonic. Together with the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt – which has previously worked with musicians such as Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, David Garrett, and Robbie Williams – the duo will present their very own mix of major rock and pop hits, traditional works, and original compositions.
