Not only at Christmas time

Dietmar Bär, reading
Stefan Weinzierl, music

Christmas, in Germany the epitome of a contemplative celebration with the family, has become the meaning of life for Aunt Milla. After the Second World War prevented her from celebrating the festival in detail for several years, her Christmas enthusiasm increased tremendously after the war, culminating in the angels still singing in August and the family coming over every evening to celebrate Christmas Eve.
In “Not Only at Christmastime” (1952), Heinrich Böll satirically takes aim at the German post-war mentality and the unalterable Christmas routine. Packed into a humorous story, he expresses subtle criticism of the inadequate processing of the past in the early post-war years.
Actor Dietmar Bär plays the humorous narrator, while classical drummer and sound artist Stefan Weinzierl plays typical and untypical Christmas melodies with his extraordinary instruments.

Dietmar Bär
He is a multi-award-winning actor and one of the most popular ARD detectives: Dietmar Bär. Born in Dortmund, he remained loyal to the Ruhr area even after studying acting at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum. Whether as an ensemble member at the Bochum Schauspiel and Wuppertal stages, as the Cologne detective "Freddy Schenk", whom he has played since 1997, or as an ardent Borussia Dortmund fan.

Stefan Weinzierl
Stefan Weinzierl's music cannot be pigeonholed - just like his instruments. With the unique sound spectrum of his multifaceted percussion instruments, the classical drummer (master's degree at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg) develops aural worlds for energetic stage productions and likes to draw connections to literature or acting.
In his productions he works with Claudia Michelsen, Devid Striesow, Dietmar Bär, Walter Sittler, ChrisTine Urspruch, Ulrike Folkerts, Andreas Pietschmann and Mark Waschke, among others, and has accepted invitations from the International May Festival Wiesbaden, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Elbphilharmonie Concerts, the San Francisco Symphony, the Ruhr Festival Recklinghausen, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and numerous other theaters and festivals in German-speaking countries.
In his Hamburg recording studio, he regularly develops and produces music for stage works, audio books, documentaries and image films.
