Gregor Meyle is a German songwriter. His emotional songs contain elements of jazz and soul and continue to conquer the singles charts. The soulful singer was discovered at Stefan Raab's Pro Sieben casting show. Meyle's special trademark is hats in different shapes and colors.
Gregor Meyle was born on October 13, 1978 in Backnang. He discovered his love for music as a young boy. At the age of four he received his first guitar as a gift. At the age of twelve he founded a band with which he covered songs by the rock group Guns N' Roses. He also works in a guitar shop to supplement his pocket money.
When he was 16 years old, Gregor Meyle founded the band Crack Fabian, whose first album was called “Early Days”. At the “Jagsthausen Castle Festival” the teenager appears as a court musician in “The Servant of Two Masters” and performs self-written ballads.
After graduating from secondary school, Gregor Meyle completed training as a sound assistant at ARRI TV and at the Heilbronn City Theater. He then did community service and began working as a freelance sound engineer in 2001.
At the age of 29, Gregor Meyle achieved his breakthrough as a musician. He applies to Stefan Raab's talent competition and qualifies as one of 20 participants for the final show with a cover version of John Mayer's "Your Body Is A Wonderland". In the final rounds, Meyle only performs songs she wrote herself and takes second place behind Stefanie Heinzmann.
Three weeks after the casting show, Gregor Meyle released the song “Nobody” presented there as a single. His first album was released in the same year. Its title song “So Shall It Be” is on the soundtrack of the film “The Red Baron” by Nikolai Müllerschön. The album and both songs landed at the top of the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The ambitious singer-songwriter soon decided to market his works himself and founded the record company Meylemusic. There he releases his album “Meylenweit” and the live album “Laut und Leise”. The next album “Meile für Meyle” is no longer as successful as its predecessors. Additionally, Gregor Meyle is having no luck on his tour. This has consequences: his label is on the verge of collapse.
But Meyle quickly recovers from this setback. Not least because his distinctive voice has huge potential. He proves this in “Sing my song – the exchange concert”. In this show, Gregor Meyle gets a second chance and uses it brilliantly. He trades songs with greats like Roger Cicero, Sarah Connor and Andreas Gabalier and wins the German Television Prize in 2014.
On the “Meylensteine” tour a year later, tickets for Gregor Meyle’s performances were real bestsellers and he proved: This singer-songwriter has come to stay. In 2020 he took third place in the Pro Sieben show “The Masked Singer”. In the same year his cookbook “Songs for Real Gourmets” was published.
Gregor Meyle would like to reveal as little about his private life as possible. Only this much is known: The star has remained down-to-earth and lives with his girlfriend in his hometown of Backnang in the Swabian province.
Meyle's atmospheric ballads are regularly featured in the charts. The most successful albums are “Mile for Meyle” and “New York – Stintino”. He sells over 100,000 units of both. The following made it into the German single charts:
