Martin Kohlstedt

The celebrated German pianist and composer Martin Kohlstedt combines acoustic pianos with electronica in his works - and thus attracts an audience from high culture and the club scene alike. He intuitively weaves the different worlds that feed Kohlstedt's influences into a live experience that is sometimes a classical piano concert, sometimes an introspective improvisation experience, sometimes a spectacular festival show with echoes of a film soundtrack. Everything here is in motion and does not follow a fixed form, which is why every evening has the special magic of uniqueness. Kohlstedt himself describes his flowing, spontaneously establishing relationships and reacting to external stimuli as modular composing. In addition to a joy of improvisation borrowed from jazz, interaction with people and space is an essential part of his inimitable work.
