Biography - Nik P.
Born as Nikolaus Presnik on April 6, 1962 in beautiful Friesach in Carinthia, music fascinated him as a young boy and has remained his great passion to this day.
It all began when he bought a guitar at the age of fifteen in Klagenfurt to play the songs of his idols John Lennon and John Denver. At nineteen, NIK P. founded his first band and since then he has been on stage almost non-stop.
It was not until 16 years later, in 1997, that he released his first album and had his first big success with “Gloria”. This was followed by many more with “Braungebrannte Haut”, “Fly white eagle”, “Ireen”, “Da oben”, “Der Fremde”, “Berlin”, “Löwenherz” etc.
NIK P.’s big breakthrough finally came with the song he wrote in the 1980s on a beach in Krumpendorf on Lake Wörthersee: “A star that bears your name”.
For this star he was awarded ten gold medals for over a million singles sold and received the ECHO 2007 in Germany for the most successful song internationally. The lyrics have now been translated into more than 15 languages, covered by many well-known singers and are now one of the most successful German pop songs of all time.
In 2012, the song "Born to Love You" was written. The first verse begins with the words "I've always been an optimist and you can do anything if you just want to." After the early death of his mother (1971), he fell into a deep hole. At some point he realized that he had to learn to stand on his own two feet.
He became an optimist and tried to maintain this optimism even in bad times. It was very important to never lose faith in yourself.
Complaining won’t get you anywhere and you should see the time you spend here on earth as a gift.”
NIK P. made this the subject of his song “The Stranger”. In general, his life is reflected in many of his songs and you can see that people think the same, act the same, feel the same and much more in many ways.
It was always important to NIK P. not only to entertain with his songs, but also to convey courage and strength or to make people think.
The story of "Berlin", which his guitarist Willi Ganster wrote, moved many people to tears. And that's good! Because then I know that I've touched someone deep in their heart, said the award-winning musician. That's what keeps him writing new songs: touching people with music!
To date, NIK P. has released 16 albums, of which almost every single has reached number 1 in the airplay charts of major radio stations in German-speaking countries. The fact that pop fans all over the world know and love many of his songs makes him immensely proud.
