Heaven can wait Chor - Wir leben jetzt Tour

This is not about the 1978 film of the same name, nor about the song by Michael Jackson. The blueprint may have come from Jan Josef Liefers, who in the TV film “Die Spätzünder” has to do community service in a retirement home and there he founds the pensioner band Rocco und die Herzschrittmacher.

What was fiction back then has now been put into practice by three dozen people of the 70+ generation in Hamburg: They have discovered for themselves that singing keeps you young.

And that it gives them an unusual feeling of freedom, especially when they dare to go on stage and in front of an audience.
The members all grew up in the post-war period; their lives were mostly about discipline and very rarely about self-fulfillment. They can change that in their old age: "Now I can finally do what I've wanted to do all my life," says one of the singers happily, and a fellow musician has proclaimed the motto "I want to have fun, I want to enjoy life. I'm in my last decade and I'm not missing out on anything."

But anyone who expects songs by Hans Albers, Freddy Quinn and Frank Schöbel to be played here is very much mistaken: Heaven Can Wait are having a wild party with the music of their grandchildren, a wild mix of hits by Sarah Connor and Mark Forster, by Fettes Brot and Deichkind. Choir director Jan-Christof Scheibe chooses the songs: "For me, it's really exciting because I'm always looking for songs that take on a new meaning when sung by an older person. She's gone by the Fantastischen Vier is a great fit for an older person because you suddenly associate things that you would never associate with a 25-year-old. The topic of death, for example."

The Heaven can Wait choir is unrivalled. Nobody could have imagined that the impressive and successful documentary would trigger such a hype and that thousands of people between the ages of 35 and 65 would storm the concerts in the north of the country.
Now they are coming to Central Germany in 2025.
