In der Thomaskirche Leipzig, an dem Ort, an dem Johann Sebastian Bach einst wirkte, erklingt am zweiten Adventswochenende sein Weihnachtsoratorium BWV 248. Das Leipziger Vocalensemble und das Leipziger Barockorchester musizieren an zwei Abenden alle sechs Kantaten und bieten damit die Gelegenheit, das Werk in seiner Gesamtheit zu erleben.
Das Leipziger Vocalensemble wurde 1976 von Georg Christoph Biller gegründet und ist regelmäßiger Gast in den Motetten und Gottesdiensten der Thomaskirche.
