Romy Hausmann is a multi-talented artist. She found a Princess Standard typewriter from the 1960s at a flea market. From then on, during restless nights, inspired by the incorrigibility of things, she hammered 52 torn fragments onto paper and had them set to music by Cologne producer Martin Bechler (Fortuna Ehrenfeld).
Romy Hausmann shakes off all the netiquette and stereotypes of a so-called power woman like an annoying fly, and we see her with flowing hair and a glass of champagne on the fire escape on the way UP. Where life still scratches and bites and burns.
With shameless hardness and the most tender courage, Romy Hausmann throws her heart onto the polished operating table to be filleted. But no matter how many times we saw it up, it doesn't stop beating. Romy Hausmann carefully folds all the vulnerabilities of a scarred life into a small parchment umbrella to decorate her next, but certainly not her last, drink.
With magical vulnerability and disarming proximity to the listener's ear, she throws her last love and cold-blooded bile against all anger, so as not to be consumed by it. Together with her, on PRINCESS STANDARD we let ourselves fall blindly, staggering, with our eyes closed, into a musical bed by none other than Fortuna Ehrenfeld. A bed that seems to have only been waiting for this eloquent literary suicide and will surely have to be freshly made tomorrow morning.
The duo Hausmann/Bechler creates a powerful album of beat-driven danceability and narcotic piano ballads out of nowhere.
