Founded in 2015 by students from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico, the Shemesh Quartet is a young and excellent representative of Mexican vocal music - and thus the perfect first a cappella ensemble from the country that connects North and South America. The group's repertoire covers both the serious, classical vocal music of Mexican composers, which is close to the Renaissance and Baroque periods, as well as folk songs and many of their own pieces. It thus manages to strike a balance between theatricality and naturalness, which is also reflected in the quartet's concerts and projects. Its program includes pieces from the 16th, 17th and 20th centuries - and the emotional intensity of the music and people of their country.
