Reinhold Messner was always a man of action, enthusiasm was his driving force. Whether as a rock climber, high-altitude mountaineer, traverser of sand and ice deserts, book author, politician, self-sufficient person, filmmaker or museum designer - dedication and passion for what he does are the seeds of all his successes. And these have made the South Tyrolean a living legend. For this reason, his presence in the media is unbroken and his lectures are an experience. In his almost 80 years of life, the South Tyrolean adventurer and border crosser was never interested in records, but always in the conflict between man and nature, be it on the highest and most difficult mountains or in the hostile ice and sand deserts of our earth. How often did Reinhold Messner walk a razor-sharp line between getting through and dying. Between hope and fear. How often was he closer to death than to life.
His lecture "Kalipé" is also a self-reflection. "Kalipé" - from the Tibetan "always with steady feet" - is Reinhold Messner's greeting to the mountains of the world.
Slowing down, calm, silence, sustainability and renunciation are the values that underpin his mountaineering. His model for success lies in reduction. Even in everyday life.
Whether as a builder, self-sufficient person or museum operator, he is guided by a sustainable approach: for him, voluntary renunciation is a successful life.
